Advisor – Energy Transition & Regulated Systems

Strategy · Governance · Solution-Engineering

What I offer

Strategy, governance and solution engineering across regulated systems and energy transition.

Advisory & Decision Support

  • Clarity on the real problem
  • Options and their feasibility
  • Defensible way forward

Format:

  • One-off sessions
  • Half/full-day advisory
  • Monthly retainer

What you receive

Structured decision framing

Clarifies the problem space, constraints, and options so leaders can make informed decision.

Independent judgement

Provides objective, evidence-based insight free from internal pressures or organisational bias.

Clear options

Translates complexity into actionable next steps with defined implications, trade-offs, and risks.

Strategy, Governance & Transition Planning

What i help with:

  • Governance frameworks
  • Transition pathways and long‑term planning
  • Decision architecture models

Format: scoped, fixed-fee project work

What you receive

Coherent strategic direction

Strategies that are feasible, responsible, and align technical, organisational, and compliance priorities.

Governance frameworks

Clear roles, responsibilities, and decision processes that fit system complexity and reflect reality.

Transition plans

Structured pathways and transition logic based on relevant insight and clear direction.

Analysis, Research & Information Synthesis

What I help with:

  • Optioneering and feasibility assessment
  • Technical–strategic translation
  • Deep-dive reports

Format: fixed-fee writing/synthesis, tiered by complexity

What you receive

High-clarity technical analysis

Transforms complex and diverse information, adding experienced analysis into clear insight.

Cross‑disciplinary synthesis

Integrates data, regulation, and organisational context into a coherent, actionable understanding.

Quality written outputs

Delivers structured, precise documents that support decisions, strategy, and stakeholder communication.

How I work

I work on the thinking, not the doing. My work sits before implementation — diagnosing what the real problem is, mapping the constraints and possibilities around it, and building a plan that stands up to scrutiny. My contribution is to make sure you’re solving the right problem, in the right way, before resources commit to it.

Diagnose

Most difficult situations aren’t difficult because the answer is unclear; they’re difficult because the actual problem hasn’t been named yet. I start by getting underneath the presenting issue — the stated brief, the political pressure, the technical noise — to find what’s genuinely at stake, and for whom.

Explore

Once the real problem is clear, I map the constraints, requirements, and possibilities around it — structured optioneering, not brainstorming. This means being explicit about trade-offs: what each path costs, what it protects, what it forecloses.

Structure

The output is a plan, framework, or governance structure that someone else can act on with confidence — clear enough to survive contact with a board, a regulator, or a sceptical stakeholder.

A lot of this work involves bridging people who don’t naturally speak the same language — engineers, regulators, boards, sustainability leads. I make sure the thinking survives translation across those groups, not just within my own head.

Who I work with

Sectors:

  • Nuclear programmes — national authorities, delivery organisations, technical support organisations, research institutions, and industry bodies
  • Energy transition — power generation organisations, grid infrastructure, clean energy technology developers, and consumer-sector organisations
  • Regulated public-sector technical programmes — infrastructure agencies, environmental and utility regulators, EU-funded technical programmes

Client profile:

Senior leaders responsible for governance, risk, and cross-disciplinary decisions in organisations where getting it wrong is expensive, slow to reverse, or both.

Geography:

UK and EU — remote, hybrid, or on-site engagements.

Pricing

Engagements range from a single advisory session to a multi-month scoped, fixed-fee project work. Pricing reflects scope and complexity and is agreed after an initial conversation.
